Release Notes - August 2022

Please find below the list of features which went LIVE on our Edmingle platform this month. In this article, we have explained the features and the steps to follow to enable the same from the admin panel.

Following is the list of features:
  1. Class Session
  2. Global Search
  3. Course Card Changes
  4. Push Notifications

  1. Class Session
This feature allows the clients to take a common class for multiple batches of the same course or among multiple courses.

This functionality is available in our Premium plan or above.

Admin/Batch Managers can follow the below steps to schedule a common class for multiple batches:
    1. Login to the admin panel.
    2. Go to Today’s Classes section on the dashboard and click on +Schedule Class option.

    3. Fill the following details:
      1. Class Name
      2. Select Instructor
      3. Check the “Is this a Virtual Class?” option if it is a live class and then select the license type from the dropdown option (Zoom /Zoom Webinar).
      4. Date
      5. Topics (optional field)
      6. Lastly, click on Select Batches option and the following screen will appear.

        1. Admin can select the number of batches from the list.
        2. Alternatively, the admin can select the number of courses from the Select Courses drop down option and then check the multiple batches for which the class is to be scheduled.
        3. Once selected, click on Done.

      7. Lastly, click on Schedule Class to complete the setup.
      8. On the other hand, if the tutor selected has another class scheduled at the same time, the admin will receive a warning message (screenshot below) and would have to click on Yes, Create Class to complete the class setup.
Please be informed that this does not override the other scheduled class and if required, the admin can reschedule the other class.
    4. Once the session is scheduled, the admin will be able to see the class in the dashboard in Today’s Classes section for that date.

Once the Class Session is scheduled, we cannot add or remove the batches.

  2. Global Search
We have introduced a global search option in the learner dashboard. This will allow the student to search using keywords and the global search will fetch & display the matching results from courses, sections and curriculum.

This functionality is available in all our plans and is specifically for the learners/students.

A learner can use the global search option in the following way:
    1. Login to your learner account.
    2. To use the global search feature, enter the keyword in the search bar available at the top of the dashboard and click ENTER. All the related results will be displayed.

    3. To exemplify, I searched using the keyword test and the results displayed are in the following manner:
      1. The left side will display the results from the courses in which a learner is already enrolled in, which includes the teaching material (Lessons), Curriculum (Subjects), Sections and the Courses.

      2. Also, if the keyword is not available in any of the sections like lessons, curriculum, or subjects, that section will not be displayed in the search results.
      3. The right side will display the results (related to the keyword) from the courses in which the learner is not enrolled yet.

    4. The search initially will display only 3 results and the learner can click on See more option to see the next 5 available results and the same procedure can be repeated if the number of results are more.
    5. Also, if a learner clicks on any course (displayed in the results) in which he/she is not enrolled yet, they will be redirected to its landing page of and can buy it directly from there.

    6. Course Card Changes
We have made few changes in the course card view in the learner dashboard. In the past, the course card visible in the learner dashboard displayed the BATCH NAME (as shown in the image below).

Now, the learners will instead see the COURSE NAME on the dashboard and the BATCH NAME will appear once the learner clicks on the course and lands on the course player.

However, if a learner is enrolled in more than one batch of the any course, he/she will see multiple course cards on the dashboard and the batch name will appear just below course name (as shown in the below screenshot).

  3. Push Notifications – Mobile App (iOS/Android)
We have added the following push notifications handling in our latest mobile application version (1.0.6), which a learner will receive on their handset as soon as the action is triggered.

    1.  When a new class is created
      1. When an admin will setup a new class, the learners which are part of the class will receive a push notification on their mobile handset.
      2. Once a learner clicks on the notification, the application will open and the user will land on the timetable screen in the application, where they will get a list of all scheduled classes for the day.

    2. When an existing class is cancelled
      1. If the admin cancels an already scheduled class, all the learners who are part of the class will receive a push notification containing the information of the class cancelled.

    3. When an existing class is rescheduled
      1. If the admin reschedules a class, all the learners who are part of the course/class will receive the below notification.
      2. Once a learner clicks on the notification, the application will open and the user will automatically navigate to the specified date's time table and will get a list of all scheduled classes for that day.

    4. When an existing class is cancelled & rescheduled
      1. A notification will be triggered whenever an existing class has been cancelled & rescheduled by the admin from the admin console.
      2. Once a learner clicks on the notification, the application will open and the user will automatically navigate to the specified date's time table and will get a list of all scheduled classes for that day.

    5. When admin sends a manual reminder for upcoming class from admin panel
      1. If a batch manager or an admin sends a manual reminder for an upcoming class, all the learners who are part of the class will receive a push notification for it.
      2. Once a learner clicks on the notification, the application will open and the user will land on the timetable screen in the application, where they will get a list of all scheduled classes for the day.

    6. When an announcement (general or course-specific) is created
      1. Any general announcement made will be received by all the learners who are part of the LMS system, whereas a course-specific announcement will be received by the learners who are part of that particular course.
      2. However, any announcement made will trigger a push notification and after clicking on it, the user will land on the announcement page on the application to view the information shared in the announcement.
