How to Manage the Learner Analytics?


Effectively managing learner analytics in an online learning platform is essential for creating impactful, data-driven educational experiences. By systematically tracking and analyzing learner engagement, progress, and performance, administrators and instructors can identify skill gaps, personalize learning paths, and optimize course content to meet the needs of each learner.


Managing learner analytics not only helps boost learner retention and satisfaction but also enables organizations to make informed decisions, improve training ROI, and align learning outcomes with business objectives. Leveraging these insights leads to more efficient resource allocation, targeted interventions, and ultimately, a more successful and engaging learning environment for all participants.

Navigation

The “Learner Analytics” section is where you can access important data about how learners are engaging with courses and progressing through their learning journeys. Navigating to this section helps educators and administrators identify learning gaps, personalize instruction and help you make data-driven decisions to improve both learner success and course effectiveness..


Navigate to the panel on the right side of the screen, then click on the “Analytics” dropdown to unwrap it and click on the “Learner Analytics” option.



Learner Analytics List View

The Learner Analytics List View offers a clear and detailed overview of learner activity on the platform. It tracks the total number of learners, their engagement levels, and usage patterns over customizable date ranges. This powerful dashboard enables data-driven decisions to improve learner experience and boost platform effectiveness.

Total Learners

Shows the number of non-archived learners on the platform.


  • Registered - Number of learners who are only registered and not enrolled in any course.

  • Enrolled - Number of learners who are enrolled in at least 1 course.

Engagement

Displays the number of learners who access the platform at least once during the selected duration.

Learner Analytics Date Range

It allows you to select the period for which you want to view overall learner analytics, using a date picker at the top right.

Engagement Date Range

It allows you to set the date range specifically for the engagement graph, so you can analyze activity for a custom period.

DAU / WAU / MAU Toggle

It allows you to switch between viewing Daily Active Users (DAU), Weekly Active Users (WAU), or Monthly Active Users (MAU) on the engagement graph.

Learners Live

Shows the number of learners who are using the platform currently.

Activity heatmap (in UTC)

Shows the platform usage by the learners throughout the day. Darker shades denote higher user engagement during those time slots.

Average Time Spent

The average amount of time a learner spends on the platform in the last 30 days

Top Learners by Usage

Lists learners who have spent the most time on the platform, along with their total usage time and number of sessions.

Top OS

Shows a breakdown of the operating systems learners use most, with a donut chart and percentage bars (e.g., Mac OS, Windows).

Devices

Displays the types of devices learners use to access the platform, shown as a donut chart (e.g., 100% Desktop).

Engagement

Denotes the level of engagement of learners across the platform, considering the following points:


  • Attendance to live sessions (if applicable)

  • Activity of the last 14 days

  • Accessing material/exercise/quizzes in the last 14 days.

Top Countries by Learners

Highlights the countries where most learners are from, shown on a world map and as a percentage bar (e.g., 100% India).

Top Brands

Displays the top brands used by learners, if any are registered; in the image, it shows “Not registered”.

App Engagement

Section reserved for app engagement analytics; currently shows a placeholder message “Coming soon, hold tight!”.



View the Total Learners Analytics

Do you want to understand how your online course is performing? Checking your total learners' analytics can help! It shows how many learners are enrolled, how they are progressing, and if they are completing the course. This information helps you see what’s working well and where improvements are needed.


Carefully follow the instructions below that will guide you on how to efficiently view total learner analytics in your organization’s learning platform.


Step 1: Click on the arrow icon (▶️) in the Total Learners box.

View the Learner Engagement Analytics

Do you want to see how actively your learners are learning? Checking engagement analytics shows you exactly how learners are interacting with your course. You can see which lessons they watch, how often they log in, and where they might be struggling. This helps you make your course more interesting and fix any problems, so learners stay motivated and learn better.


After visiting the Learner Engagement Analytics section, you can do the following:

View Daily/Weekly/Monthly Active Users

Want to track daily engagement on your learning platform? Viewing Active Users (DAU, WAU, MAU) shows real-time participation trends, helping you measure content effectiveness and spot engagement patterns to optimize learner retention.


Carefully follow the instructions below that will guide you on how to efficiently view daily active users in your organization’s learning platform.


Click on the “DAU” button to view Daily Active Users. Similarly, you can view the WAU and MAU as well.


Change Engagement Date Range

Need to analyze engagement for a specific period? Learn how to change the date range in your platform to compare performance across different timeframes, spot trends, and measure the impact of course updates.


Carefully follow the instructions below that will guide you on how to efficiently change the engagement date range in your organization’s learning platform.


Step 1: Click on the engagement date range bar, then a new date calendar will open.



Step 2: Click on a start date, then an end date.



View the Average Time Spent by Learners

Want to see how long learners spend learning in your course? Checking the average time spent helps you understand if lessons are too long, too short, or just right. This way, you can make your course more engaging by keeping the perfect pace for learners.


Carefully follow the instructions below that will guide you on how to efficiently view the average time spent by learners in your organization’s learning platform.


Step 1: Click on the arrow (▶️) icon at the end of the Average Time Spent title.

Want to see what kind of devices your learners use? The Top OS Analytics shows you if they are learning on iOS devices, Androids, Windows, or Macs. This helps you to make sure your course works well on all devices and fix any problems with specific phones or computers.
