Why DLT Registration for SMS Service?
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released The Telecom Commercial Communication Customer Preference Regulation (TCCCPR) 2018 to regulate Unsolicited Commercial Communication (UCC) and create transparency in the entire process. TRAI has created the guidelines to enhance control, curb any fraudulent activities and provide greater safety to the end customer. As per the revised TRAI guidelines, The system will be governed using Block-chain technology also known as Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and the whole panel entities will be interlinked with each other and the businesses/companies who want to communicate with their customers will now have to register themselves with Telecom Operators for sending SMS using their company documentation. The Businesses (Principle Entity) and Service Provider (Telemarketer) will be accountable to telecom operators who will be directly accountable to TRAI.
Is it necessary to do this Registration?
Effective April 1, 2021, TRAI has mandated Content Template Registration and SMS will only be delivered if that SMS Content Template is approved on any operator DLT portal. At present, all SMS templates available in Edmingle, in your administrator account are pre-approved under Edmingle Header. SMS will be sent to end users, including the Edmingle brand (in accordance with the guidelines) in the SMS template.
Still, it is not mandatory for Edmingle Customers to register on the DLT platform, they can continue using Edmingle SMS services. All the SMS Template available in the Edmingle are already approved under the Edmingle registered header. In case, if you wish to send SMS under your own Brand Header then you only need to register a Entity on any DTL Portal and get your own header and SMS Templates approved, check the steps mentioned below:
If you wish send SMS to your end users under own Institute/Organization Brand Name, first you need to follow this Check-list:
1. Principal Entity Registration on any DLT operator portal.
2. Once Entity Registered, apply for SMS Header (Sender ID).
3. Apply for Content Template.
4. Update Approved Content Templates in the Admin Dashboard under every action.

In case, if you are continuing SMS service under Edmingle Header, please do not do these actions, which may cause SMS delivery failure. 1. Edit any Template under SMS Setting.
2. Use of Bulk SMS Feature.
3. Direct SMS to user.
