How to edit a batch in the course?

Editing a batch in your organization’s learning management system helps to update course details like the schedule or learner information. This is important when there are changes in course plans, learner availability, or course requirements.

By editing a batch, you can make sure the learning experience runs smoothly and fits everyone’s needs. Through this guide, we will walk you through the process of editing a batch in the curriculum.

Before proceeding, please read the “How to Add a Batch to the Course?” document. It provides the necessary steps for setting up your batch structure, which is required before editing a batch.

Navigation

A Batch is a group of learners who join the same course and follow the same schedule. When teachers go to the Learners section in a Batch, they can easily see each learner’s details, check how they are doing, and talk to everyone in the group.

Carefully follow the instructions below to learn how you can efficiently navigate to the “Batches” section in your organization’s learning platform.


Step 1: Navigate to the left sidebar of your learning platform, click on the “Course Delivery” dropdown to expand it, then select the “Batches” option.



Step 2: After clicking on the “Batches” option, a new window will open on the screen (as shown in the image below) that showcases the list of all the batches.


Editing a Batch

Let’s now explore 2 different methods for editing a batch that offer flexibility based on your needs. Editing a batch allows you to quickly update multiple items at once, saving time and ensuring consistency across your work.

Method I: From the “Batches” Section

Step 1: Click on the ellipsis icon (...) next to the batch you want to activate and click on the “Edit Batch” option.



Step 2: While editing a batch, you'll need to fill in important details as illustrated in the table below. Then click the “Update Batch” button.

Enter the name of the batch being updated.

A dropdown to select the course associated with the batch.

Curriculum

Dropdown to select the curriculum associated with the batch.

Sequence (Seq.)

Dropdown to select the sequence number of the curriculum in the batch.

Curriculum Name

Enter the specific name of the curriculum being taught in that sequence.

Instructor

Dropdown to assign an instructor to the curriculum in that sequence.

Delete

Click on the option to delete the curriculum sequence from the batch.

Start Date

Set the start date for the batch.

End Date

Set the end date for the batch.

Batch Manager

A dropdown to select the main batch manager responsible for overseeing the batch.

Additional Batch Manager

Dropdown to assign an additional batch manager, if needed.

Cancel” Button

Click to cancel the batch update without saving changes.

Update Batch” Button

Click to save and apply the changes made to the batch.

Step 3: Once you have edited a batch in your curriculum, it is ready for the learners to use.

Method II: From Within A Batch

Step 1: Visit a batch you want to edit, click on the “Actions” dropdown, and click on the “Edit Batch Details” option.



Step 2: While editing a batch, you'll need to fill in important details as illustrated in the table below. Then click the “Update Batch” button.

Enter the name of the batch you want to update.

Select the course linked to the batch from the dropdown.

Choose the curriculum related to the batch from the dropdown.

Select the sequence number for the curriculum within the batch if applicable.

Curriculum Name

Enter the specific name of the curriculum for the selected sequence.

Assign an instructor to the curriculum sequence by selecting from the dropdown.

Click this option to remove a curriculum sequence from the batch.

Start Date

Set the batch’s start date by selecting the appropriate date.

End Date

Set the batch’s end date by choosing the relevant date.

Batch Manager

Select the primary batch manager responsible for the batch from the dropdown.

Additional Batch Manager

Assign an additional batch manager if needed by selecting from the dropdown.

Cancel” Button

Click on this button to discard any changes and cancel the batch update.

Click on this button to save and apply all changes made to the batch.

Step 3: Once you have edited a batch in your curriculum, it is ready for the learners to use.
