Managing segments allows you to group learners based on specific criteria, making it easier to send targeted communications, track progress, and personalize their learning experience. By creating and managing segments, you can organise your audience according to attributes like enrollment status, course progress, location, or custom fields. This not only streamlines communication but also ensures that learners receive relevant updates tailored to their needs. Effective use of segments helps you improve engagement, boost participation, and deliver a more personalized learning journey for every learner.
To access the segments in the LMS, Go to Marketing and click on segments.
Click on the “Marketing” dropdown to unwrap it, then click on the “Segments” option.
Carefully follow the instructions below that will guide you on how to navigate to the “ Create a New Segments” section in your organization’s learning platform.
Click on the ‘Create New Segment’ button located at the top-right corner of the screen.
Viewing Learner Data in Segments
Each segment displays filtered learner data based on the criteria you selected.
This makes it easy to view progress, analyze performance, or send targeted messages without sorting through all learners manually.
Once you’ve configured the filters or uploaded learners, click on Save.
Your new segment will now appear in the list.
Creating Segments with Filters
The Segments feature allows you to create highly targeted learner groups using multiple filters. You are not limited to just one filter per segment—you can add as many filters as you need, making it possible to create simple or complex segments depending on your requirements.
You currently have access to a wide range of filters such as Sign Up, Learner Status, Enrollment Status, Payment Status, Coupon Used, Course Progress, Certificate, Attendance Percentage, Last Seen, Abandoned Cart, Custom Fields, and Learner Category.
Examples:
Single Filter Segment: Learners who signed up in the last 7 days.
Multi-Filter Segment: Learners who have completed less than 20% of their course AND have a pending payment.
Advanced Segment: Learners who used a coupon code, have not logged in for 15 days, and belong to a specific learner category.
Analytical View
You can also access an analytical view of any segment you’ve created. By clicking on the segment, you’ll be able to see two types of visual reports: a line graph for tracking trends over time and a bar graph for comparing learner data at a glance. These insights make it easier to monitor progress, identify patterns, and measure engagement within the segment. For record-keeping or deeper analysis, you can also export the report and share it with your team.
