InfoThrough this documentation, we will guide you on how you can set-up general preferences.

Let’s get started 🚀

AlertCarefully follow the instructions below that will guide you on how to navigate to the “General Preferences” section in your organization’s learning platform.

Learner Profile Settings

The Learner’s Profile Settings section allows you to configure how learners interact with their profiles and manage their personal information on your LMS. These settings provide flexibility to administrators while ensuring learners have a smooth and secure experience. Below is a detailed explanation of each option:

1. Allow Instructors to view and download Zoom class recordings

Description: When enabled, instructors can view and download the recorded Zoom classes directly.

Impact:

✅ If enabled → Instructors can access recordings.

❌ If disabled → Only the admin will have the ability to download the recordings.

2. Enable learners to update their profile

Description: This allows learners to edit their profile details, including their name and the Student Sign-Up Primary Field (mobile or email).

Admin Control: The primary field (mobile/email) is defined under Website & App Setup > General Settings.

Impact: Learners can keep their information updated for better communication and identification.

3. Enable learners to update the mandatory fields on their profile

Description: This option allows learners to edit mandatory data fields such as Name and Student Sign-Up fields (including email).

Note: If disabled, learners will not be able to update these fields.

Setup Location: Can be managed under Onboard Settings.

4. Enable learners to upload their profile image

Description: Learners can upload a profile picture to personalize their account.

Impact: Keeping this enabled improves learner identity and engagement within the platform.

5. Show profile completion status on dashboard

Description: Displays a progress indicator (nudge) on the learner’s dashboard and profile page, encouraging them to complete all mandatory and optional profile fields.

Impact:

✅ Encourages learners to complete their profiles.

❌ Once all fields are filled, the nudge automatically disappears.

6. Restrict learners’ access if any mandatory profile field is empty

Description: Prevents learners from accessing their dashboard until all mandatory profile fields are filled.

Impact: Ensures critical information is collected from all learners before they begin using the platform.

Default State: Disabled (must be enabled manually if needed).

7. Enforce new users to reset password

Description: Forces new users to reset their password when they log in for the first time.

Impact: Enhances account security by ensuring learners set their own secure password instead of relying on system-generated credentials.

Course Content Settings

The Course Content Settings section allows you to configure how learners interact with video lessons, teaching materials, and assessments within the platform. These settings are designed to enhance content security, improve learning experiences, and maintain academic integrity. Below is a detailed explanation of each option:

1. Disable Default YouTube Player Controls

When enabled, learners will see a custom player control for YouTube videos uploaded in the course curriculum instead of the standard YouTube controls.

Purpose: Prevents learners from easily extracting YouTube links or sharing the videos outside the platform.

Benefit: Increases security of video content and minimizes unauthorized distribution.

2. Enable Text/HTML Masking for Teaching Materials

When enabled, learners will not be able to select or copy-paste text from selected types of teaching materials.

Purpose: Protects intellectual property and prevents unauthorized duplication of course content.

Benefit: Ensures learners focus on the material without misusing the content.

3. Enable Text/HTML Masking for Assessments

When enabled, learners will not be able to copy-paste text from assessments across the platform.

Purpose: Maintains exam integrity by preventing learners from copying and sharing assessment questions.

Benefit: Creates a secure assessment environment for all learners.

4. Complete and Continue Video Threshold (%)

This setting allows you to define the percentage of a video that must be watched before a learner can mark it as complete and proceed further in the curriculum.

Default Example: If set to 1%, learners can mark the video complete after watching just 1% of it.

Recommendation: Increase the threshold (e.g., 80%–100%) to ensure learners watch a substantial portion of the video before moving ahead.

Benefit: Helps maintain learning discipline and ensures learners meaningfully engage with the video content.

✅ By configuring these settings thoughtfully, you can safeguard your learning materials, preserve assessment integrity, and create a structured and effective learning journey for your students.

DRM and Dynamic Watermark Settings

The DRM and Dynamic Watermark Settings help protect your video content by embedding unique, viewer-specific watermarks into secured DRM videos. This ensures an additional layer of security against piracy and unauthorized content distribution. Below is a detailed explanation of each setting:

1. Enable Watermarking for Secured DRM Videos

When this option is enabled, the platform will automatically apply dynamic watermarks to all DRM-protected videos.

Purpose: Each viewer receives a unique watermark, making it easier to trace unauthorized screen recordings or leaks.

Benefit: Strengthens content security and discourages misuse of your premium video content.

2. Custom Duration for Watermark

You can customize how long the watermark appears and how frequently it reappears on the video screen.

Display Duration (in seconds):

Defines how long the watermark will remain visible during each display.

Example: If set to 10, the watermark stays visible for 10 seconds at a time.

Time Interval between each display (in seconds):

Defines the gap between one watermark display and the next.

Example: If set to 20, the watermark will reappear every 20 seconds.

This flexibility allows you to balance content security with learner experience, ensuring watermarks are visible enough to deter misuse but not overly distracting.

3. Save Settings

After customizing the duration and interval, click Save to apply the changes. These settings will then be automatically enforced across all secured DRM videos.

✅ By enabling and customizing DRM and watermarking, you ensure maximum protection of your video content, reducing risks of unauthorized sharing while maintaining professional delivery for learners.
